The Computational Medicine team has during 2002-2007 taken part in the following educational events:

  • Lecturing (Tegnér) at the Winter School on systems biology. Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, Canary Islands, February 2007.
  • Lecturing (Tegnér) at the 2nd workshop on systems neurobiology. International school for advanced studies (SISSA), Trieste, Italy December 2006.
  • Designed and organized (Tegnér and Björkegren) a national PhD course on Systems Biology - from simple organisms to complex diseases, PhD School for Medical Bioinformatics, Karolinska Institutet, Oct-Nov, 2006.
  • To stimulate high school teachers, forming the future generation, Tegnér have lectured (2002-2005) on recent developments in Computational LIfe Sciences.
  • Lecturing (Björkegren) in ”System Biological Approaches to Atherosclerosis” at the postgraduate course ”An overview of the processes of Atherosclerosis” (#1551) organized by The Unit of Atherosclerosis Research, King Gustav V Research Institute, Karolinska Institutet, 2003-2005.
  • Lecturing (Tegnér) on machine learning techniques in bioinformatics, micro-arrays, mathematical modeling and systems biology, in the Bioinformatics course for engineering students LiTH, 2003-2005.
  • Lecturing (Tegnér and Björkegren) at the PhD course on bioinformatics organized by forskarskolan i medicinsk bioinformatik (FMB) at Karolinska Institutet, 2003-2005.
  • Designed and organized (Tegnér, Pena and Brinne) a PhD course on Statistical Learning Theory, Department of Physics, LiTH, 2004.
  • Designed and organized (Tegnér) a PhD course on Gene regulation, Department of Physics, LiTH, 2003.
  • Course leader (Tegnér) for a new PhD course on "Modeling of neuronal function from the intracellular to neuron and network level - computational neuroscience", Karolinska Institutet, November,2002.
  • Designed and directed (with Wislander,Nelson, Elofsson and Kraulis) a new PhD course on Genomes: Organization, function and evolution, SU & KTH, March-June, 2002.
  • Artificial neural networks and other learning systems (PCA, ICA, Simulated Annealing & Boltzmann machines, and support vector machines), 2002.
  • Designed and organized a new journal club at the Stockholm Bioinformatics Center on system biology, networks, algorithms, and gene regulation, SBC, 2002.
